Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth offers game drives (probably a South African first for a university) through its premises, within a 720-hectare nature reserve on the southern tip of Algoa Bay.
The coastal fynbos / subtropical thicket mosaic, which is the largest area of protected dune fynbos in the country, is home to a myriad of antelope, Zebra, fascinating bird species (i.e. the rare Roseate Tern), and even predators like Caracal.
The tours, led by FGASA registered field guide Alan Fogarty, include a visit to the 158-year-old Cape Recife lighthouse.
